World Traveler: Colorado Edition - Part 2

Sunday morning we woke up at went to Lucile's for breakfast and met the Lafitte's. Its a cajun restaurant that is open only for breakfast and lunch and it is amazing. Everything on the menu looks incredible.  It was all fresh and beautiful and just incredible.  Not to mention that the restaurant itself is the cutest thing you'll ever see !  I had a cheese omelet that came with a giant biscuit and cheese grits.  I could eat that meal every day. Forever. And always.

My cafe au lait !

adding more sugar... because there wasn't enough !

My omelet, cheese grits and biscuit.  All things good.

I was sad to leave Lucile's.  I wanted to stay there forever.  Roll around in a pool of cheese grits...

ALAS, life goes on. With my full, fat belly in tow we headed off to Golden for Geocaching!
If you've never been Geocaching before, its amazing and you should get on it !  Anyway, Golden is a super cute suburb of Denver nestled in a valley.  I couldn't handle the cute.

Then we were on to our second one.  It was tucked into the underside of a picnic table, Stephanie found it!

Kyr opening our second cache, it was a lot smaller and harder to find !

Looking for cache #3

Cache #3 turned out to be a little tricky...aka we gave up.  I don't think anything was really there!
Jason taking out his anger...

After cache #3 we headed back to the car then drove up Lookout Mtn. and stopped at a rest point. Steph and I attempted to find a cache but the ice and arctic winds drove us a way before we were successful.

That night, Adge and I went to mass with her roommates then had dinner with them back at their house.  Her roommate made us pupusas which were awesome!

Monday-

Kyr was still sick so we let her be.  Adge had an appointment in downtown Denver, so while she was there I walked around.  I went to the Cathedral for a while and prayed and took in its beauty.  I did seem to forget to take a picture though...
The capitol

and the other side
When Adge was done we went to lunch at an Irish pub named Katie Mullin's.  It was adorable and really made me feel like I was in Ireland.  I naturally had fish and chips.

After lunch we went up to the Augustine Institute for communion service at 3:30.  The school is housed on the top floor of a building that used to be a convent (i think).  I loved it . The building is old and really cool. The light wood floors made it feel like it was the school from Step Up...

The whole AI!
Especially this room...

The view when you walk outside, so stinking beautiful!

Me, beholding the school!

Adge and I went to hang out with her friend, Tamara, who turned out to be an old friend from college of one of my best friends.  Small, Catholic world moment!

For dinner we went to the cute shopping center where out Corner Bakery  adventure was and met Tyler and Steph for pizza at Mellow Mushroom!  I freaked out at how cute it was with the twinkle lights everywhere.  There was also a really cool outdoor fireplace.  I love it.

Dinner was wonderful and the company was better.  We sat and talked for a while before it was time to roll out. Bed time comes early for people with responsibility!

Later that night I said my goodbyes to Adge since she had work the next morning waaaaay before I would be awake !

Tuesday-

IT WAS SNOWING!!!!!! I was so excited that we had a little snow while I was in CO.

Kyr was feeling much better today (whew! & yay!) so we headed to downtown Littleton to walk around the shops since they were open and have lunch.  We had hot chocolate at a really cute shop named Chocolate Therapy (my homeland) and then lunch at Merle's.  Everything was great and all the boutiques are adorable and make you want to be really fashionable.

Alas, the time passed and before we knew it we needed to head off to the airport.  We had a nice 45 minutes en route to say our goodbyes though.  I'm so happy I got to go visit everyone in Colorado and have such a great time with them.  Its crazy that we're done with college and spread across the country now.  I still refuse to believe we are growing up.

World Traveler: Colorado Edition- Part 1

So turns out that if you're an Aggie Catholic you might be in jeopardy of moving to Denver.

Its trending.

Since I didn't move to Colorado this year, I made up for it by visiting.

Originally the plan was that I was going to come on MLK weekend so that way Adge and Kyr would have work off on Monday giving us 3 lucious days together.  Being the champion I am, I assumed the MLK was on the 21 of January because in college we always went back to school after Christmas break the Tuesday after MLK and it was almost like the 19th or 20th so I just went with that.

Turns out I was wrong.   MLK was last week in case you missed it.  So I still went to CO ...and everything worked out just wonderfully!

It went a little something like this:

Friday:
I made it to the airport around 11:15 for my 1:00 flight.  I sat next to a really cute couple that had just gone on vacation to Costa Rica ( ! ) and were on their way back to Colorado.

When I landed in Denver I made my way to collect my bag... and then Adrienne made her grand appearance at passenger pick up and the adventures began!  We came back to her house to discover a Kyrstyn, just-a-piddling around. :o) After dropping off bags, getting a tour of the house and meeting some roommates we were off the Jason and Tyler's house for some more Aggie Catholic reunioning.  They were jamming in the basement when we arrived (naturally) and after some hugs and shrugs we dined on a shmorgishborg of venison, grilled cheese and "candied chestnuts." Tasted like victory.

The rest of the night consisted of some gaming... a little Taboo (total female domination) and a little Settlers... (less female domination).  Then it was goodnight.

Saturday:
This day was deemed park day so we made our way to Washington park to have a go at being active like the Colorado-ites do!  Jason bummed his ankle playing rugby while the three ladies took a lovely few laps around the park.  There were approximately 1 million dogs, none of which were the same breed.  The pond was also partially frozen, which was mostly awesome.

Tyler arrived and it was bocce time.  Classic.  I imagine the game would have been much for fun and a million times more sanitary if the geese hadn't felt the need to mark the entire park as their territory. We're talking a geese feces fiasco.  Geese + feces = Geeces.  It. Was. Everywhere.  including out bocce balls.  This really didn't inhibit playing that much.  "oops"

Around 2:30  we realized we hadn't eaten lunch so made our way over to Spanky's near the beautiful DU campus.  Spanky's : Home of a hamburger sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches.

After lunch we stopped at the seminary to drop off some books at the library.  Turns out the Denver seminary is gorgeous.

These are vestments made with real gold... the sign said they are really heavy!

Then we were back at the house to shower and get ready for the evening. Mrs. Lafitte (!!) came over, as well as Jason and we headed to downtown Littleton.

We were greeted with this...

It was so BEAUTIFUL! I kept running around saying I felt like we were in Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls.  All the shops looked really cute, but they were all closed.  But I did find me a pottery store to work at in case I ever end up here !

We walked around a bit while I freaked out at how much I loved it ...

Then things got interesting.  The place we wanted to eat had a really long wait to we ended up at Jose's.  This little Mexican restaurant look really nice on the outside with its super legit sign.  Turns out the sign was the only legitimate part.

Here are our chips we paid $1.50 for...

and our waters... that came half full and with coffee stirrer straws....

Jason asked for that carafe of water so we could refill our own since they seemed to be a little over protective of the h20.

I ordered fajitas and kyr ordered quesadillas.... heres what we got...
"fajitas"
"quesadillas"

Kyr quesadillas had ground beef in it that made Taco Bell food look like it came from Whole Foods.  She ate one bite and was done.  That single bite may have taken its revenge on her as she was sick for the next two days... .

Jason left us so we went on a hunt for "treats" to appease Stephanie and Adge. We ended up at Corner Bakery and after Steph suggested we get our treats for free since they were just going to throw them out when then closed we ended up with 5 free goodies to eat !

Eventually the Corner was trying to close so we let them be and went on our merry little way !
